FanGifts is an app for Fanvue creators that lets their subscribers buy virtual gifts. This policy explains what personal data FanGifts handles, why, and your rights over it. FanGifts is run by Polar Industries, based in the United Kingdom, which is the data controller for the data described here. Contact us at support@polarindustries.co.
FanGifts runs inside Fanvue. Fanvue handles your Fanvue account, payments and messages under its own privacy policy; this policy covers only what FanGifts itself does.
What we collect
If you're a creator
- Your Fanvue profile: your Fanvue user ID, handle, display name and profile picture link, received from Fanvue when you open FanGifts.
- Access to your Fanvue account: the access and refresh tokens Fanvue issues when you approve FanGifts, stored encrypted. We never see or ask for your Fanvue password.
- Your gift shop: the gifts you create (names, descriptions, prices, rewards, limits), copies of the vault photos you choose as gift art, the checkout links FanGifts creates for your gifts, and any special days you add (such as your birthday, stored as a day and month only).
If you're a fan
- Your Fanvue identity: your Fanvue user ID, display name and profile picture link, so the creator can see who sent a gift.
- When you subscribed: when you open a creator's shop, FanGifts reads the date you first subscribed to them from Fanvue, so it can offer anniversary gifts. It isn't stored.
- Your gifts: which gift you sent, when, the amount and currency, the Fanvue invoice number, any message or request you write to the creator, and the occasion it's for, if you choose one.
Payments are made on Fanvue's checkout. FanGifts never receives your card details. Fanvue tells FanGifts when a payment succeeds, fails, is refunded or is disputed, so the gift can be delivered or cancelled.
Voice replies are uploaded to the creator's Fanvue vault and sent as a Fanvue message. FanGifts keeps only a reference to them.
How we use it
- To run the gift shop: show gifts, take orders, unlock content and deliver replies.
- To act on the creator's behalf in Fanvue, only for FanGifts features, using the access they approved.
- To keep FanGifts secure and working, including preventing fraud and fixing problems.
Our legal bases under UK GDPR are the performance of our contract with you (providing FanGifts), and our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and reliable. We don't sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use advertising or analytics cookies. The public demo sets one functional cookie, to keep each visitor's practice shop separate.
Who we share it with
- Fanvue, to provide FanGifts' features (for example creating checkout links, unlocking content and sending messages).
- Cloudflare, which hosts FanGifts and stores its data on our behalf. Cloudflare may process data outside the United Kingdom; where it does, it is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
A creator sees the display names, gifts and messages of fans who send them gifts. Fans see only the creator's shop.
How long we keep it
- Creator and order data: for as long as the creator uses FanGifts, until they delete it.
- Server logs, which don't include access tokens: up to 7 days.
Deleting your data
Creators can delete everything FanGifts holds about them at any time from the FanGifts dashboard, using Delete my FanGifts data. This removes their gifts, gift art, orders, fans' requests and stored Fanvue access, and switches off their gift checkout links. Uninstalling FanGifts in Fanvue stops its access to the account.
Fans, or anyone else, can ask us to delete their data by emailing support@polarindustries.co. We'll act within 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, and object to how we use it. Email support@polarindustries.co. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
FanGifts is served only over HTTPS. Fanvue access tokens are encrypted at rest, secrets are kept on our servers and never sent to your browser, and access to data is limited to what is needed to run and support the app. To report a security issue, email support@polarindustries.co with "Security" in the subject.
Age
FanGifts is for Fanvue users only, and Fanvue is for adults aged 18 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and tell creators in the app about significant changes.
